Driveways
The permitted development rights that allow householders to pave their front gardens with hard standing,
without planning permission, have changed.
Planning permission is NOT required if:
- The new or replacement driveway of any size uses permeable or porous surfacing
- The rainwater is directed to a lawn or border to drain naturally
Planning permission IS required if:
- The area to be covered is more than 5sqm using impermeable driveways that do not allow for the rainwater to run to a permeable area
